Les Miserables (Universal, 2012)

"No one puts Jean Valjean in a corner!"

So, have you ever seen a movie so depressing it actually makes you laugh? This was my experience watching Les Miserables. A movie that forces a story down your throat instead of letting you chew it and digest it. Anne Hathaway was good though.....in a depressing way of course. 1 out of 4 Squids

The Grey (2011)

"Could this day get any worse?"

Just like in the movie "The Edge", this move features a quest for survival against a savage beast in the Alaskan wilderness following a dramatic plane crash. But this one has got Liam Neeson fighting wolves in place of Alec Baldwin fighting bears. It tells a very intimate story about coming to terms with a broken life while in the midst of terrifying danger. And the ending is the most perfect reward for taking this cinematic journey. 3 out 4 squids!

Chicago (Miramax Pictures, 2002)

"When you're good to Mama.....you'll get a dance number from Mama."

The movie Chicago, accurately portrays how life was at the beginning of the 20th century. Lots of musical numbers replacing boring conversations. And that's what made those times so great.
Great cast.  Catchy musical numbers. incredible production value and creativity.
I give this movie 3 out of 4 Squids

The Edge (20th Century Fox, 1997)

"Bear jerky sure hits the spot after a long day of being chased by a man-eating bear."

An aging billionaire with a supermodel/ trophy wife. A cameraman, who might just have a liking for said billionaire's wife. What happens when they both have to rely on each other for survival following a plane crash into the wilds of Alaska followed by a few run ins with a man-hungry bear? Answer: A movie for MANLY men.  Good acting, Adventure, and a story that unravels at a near perfect pace. After watching this, you will be immediately more appreciative of the modern technology that surrounds you This movie gets 3 out of 4 squids.

The Godfather Part 3 (Paramount Pictures, 1989)

"What does this have to do with me?"

Everyone's favorite, wacky godfather is back and this time he is taking the Vatican by storm!
This film tries too hard to be a sequel and as a result almost feels like a parody at times. This might have been a fantastic thriller on it's own if it wasn't called Godfather.
I must give it 2 out of 4 squids.

The Godfather Part 2 (Paramount Pictures, 1974)

"Fredo, Want to go fishin?"

Godfather part 2 is just as good as the first one. Some argue that it is actually better. But I won't say that out of fear of retaliation from the first film. The twists and turns and flashbacks keep this movie going with a little faster pace then the previous film. I give it 4 out of 4 Squids

The Godfather (Paramount Pictures, 1972)

"No...it's not true"

This film is a masterpiece of cinema. A little long, but worth it. This is not a movie about gangsters. No, this is a movie about a family sticking together during tough times. Superb story, acting and production value! This film deserving receives 4 out of 4 squids.
